Fireball activity above Extremadura (southwest Spain) skies is being intense during this week.

This occasion, the fireball flew above north Córdoba (Andalucía) first and then entered in Extremadura.

SMART Project’s detectors, as usual, registered the event. This time from the cameras operated at Calar Alto (Almería), Sierran Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), La Hita (Toledo) and Seville observatories.

And, one of the external surveillance cameras located at Calar Alto Observatory in Almería, could also record this nice object.

February 18th 2021

On February 16th and 17th, two bright fireball flew above Extremadura (west Spain) skies.

First one on February 16th took place at 05h00 UT and second one crossed skies at  20h35 UT of February 17th.

Both of them could be registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), La Hita (Toledo) and Seville observatories.

West Calar Alto surveillance webcam could also register these events.

January 29th 2021

During these days, Granada (South Spain) is suffering a big series of earthquakes, which are causing the alarm of the inhabitants.

However, earthquakes aren't the only natural event happening on that province. A nicer event took place last night on Granada’s skies. At 00h19 UT of January 29th, a bright and fast fireball crossed the north part of this province.

SMART Project's detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), Sierran Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), La Hita (Toledo) and Seville observatories, registered this event.

This fireball could also be recorded with the north surveillance camera operated at Calar Alto Observatory in Almería.

January 21st 2021

On the night of January 21th 2021, at 2h56 UT, a bright fireball above Madrid (Spain) was registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), La Sagra (Granada) and Seville observatories.

Although Spain’s skies were cloudy during the whole night, one of the external surveillance cameras of Calar Alto Observatory in Almería (South Spain) also registered this event.

January 16th 2021

On January 15th 2021, at 01h24 UT, Calar Alto Observatory (Almería) registered its second fireball of the year. And curiously it was very similar to the first one, only two nights ago.

In this case, SMART Project’s detectors located at Calar Alto (Almería), Sierran Nevada (Granada), La Hita (Toledo) and Seville observatories detected this event.

Calar Alto Observatory (Almería) recorded the object with one of its external surveillance webcams.
