At 04:03:20 UT on October 23, 2025, a bright fireball was seen crossing Algeria eastward, leaving behind a small trail of light.
This object was recorded by the SMART Project detectors operating at Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), Seville, and Mazagón.
One of the outdoor cameras of the Calar Alto Observatory also captured this beautiful event.
October 21st 2025
This October has been a truly intense month for fireballs. The latest one, a beautiful Oronid, occurred last night, October 21st, at 00:13 UT.
The event was registered with the SMART Project's detectors operated at the observatories of Calar Alto in Almería, La Hita in Toledo, Sierra Nevada and La Sagra in Granada, Mazagón in Huelva, Huelva, and Seville.
One of the external cameras located at the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería was able to capture some impressive images of this object.
October 20th 2025
In mid-October, we are witnessing a beautiful proliferation of fireballs in our skies.
Last days, on October 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th, SMART Project detectors registered fireballs from Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), Otura (Granada) Mazagón (Huelva) and Seville observatories.
In addition, some of the external cameras of Calar Alto Observatory, in Almería, registered these events.
October 6th 2025
During the night of October 6th, another nice fireball crossed the skies of Extremadura, Ciudad Real and Córdoba, on the center-south part of Spain.
The event took place at 00h44 UT, and it was registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), Huelva and Seville observatories.
This time, two of the external cameras of the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería, also registered this event.
October 5th 2025
On October 4th, at 23h55 UT, a bright fireball could be observed crossing the skies of Cuenca and Valencia provinces in eastern Spain.
This object was registered with the SMART Project’s detectors operated at Calar Alto (Almería), La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), Otura (Granada)Huelva and Seville observatories.
Three of the external cameras located at Calar Alto Observatory, also registered this nice event.
- Fireball towards the north of the province of Albacete in southern Spain
- A fireball lights up Portugal… and is captured by Calar Alto’s cameras over 600 km away
- Bright fireball observed over the Mediterranean on the night of September 17
- A spectacular fireball on the night of September 18
- A fireball streaks across the Mediterranean Sea, as if bidding farewell to the last days of summer.
