Last night of April 1st 2018, at 06:17 local time (04:17 UT) a bright fireball flew over Granada, Almería and Murcia (South Spain) skies. This phenomena could be registered with the SMART detectors operated at OSN (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), La Hita (Toledo) and Sevilla observatories. The object could be also recorded with two webcams of the Calar Alto Observatory external surveillance system.
Following the preliminar analysis carried out by Professor José María Madiedo (University of Huelva), PI of the SMART Project, this bright fireball started at an altitude of about 97 km over Granada province. Then, it moves northeastward, crossing the north of Almería province and finishing at an altitude of about 29 km once it was already flying over the skies of the province of Murcia. The speed of this fireball was about 83.000 km/h.

Calar Alto (CAHA) fireball detection station, together with the one at the Observatory of Sierra Nevada (IAA-CSIC) and others placed at different locations in Spain, are part of the S.M.A.R.T. project led by Professor José María Madiedo (University of Huelva) to track that kind of objects. Specifically, Calar Alto (CAHA) station and the one at Sierra Nevada (IAA-CSIC) constitute a collaboration agreement between Professor Madiedo and both institutions.
