Problem: AG FOCUS ERROR.

    Diagnostic :
  • Red error flag "AG FOCUS ERROR" in PMAS Status Window.

    Explanation :
  • The VME motor controller has experienced an error condition of the A&G Camera focus stage. The error may be related to a hardware problem, a software problem, or to a spurious error condition. If the error is prevailing despite the solution advised below, a more serious hardware failure must be suspected. Consult support for advice.

    Solution :
  • On rike prompt, type :

agfocInit
    
agfocStatus
    After agfocStatus, the following message should appear: TBD.

    If the LOCKED status is not reached, reset the vme controller lea (reset button on lea frontpanel - do not confuse with abort button !) Repeat the sequence from above. If there is no success, call support.

    In the event of serious failure of the A&G camera focus drive, switch to the standard 3.5m TV Guider system:

    pics_gui pulldown menu: SetMode -> Guiding -> External TV Guider

    Note: as opposed to other PMAS devices, you cannot mechanically move the AG focus stage in case of failure. In such a case it is necessary to dismount the entire A&G Camera subsystem.
