The Cocoon Nebula in Cygnus. This false-color image is a composition of 3
exposures of 300 secons in [O III] filter (blue), 3 exposures of 300
seconds in H alpha (green) and one single exposure of 300 seconds in
[S II] filter (red). Images were obtained with CAFOS at the 2.2m
telescope on 2004 november 6 by Ángel R. López-Sánchez
(IAC) .
Exposures in each narrow-band filter were reduced and combined using IRAF,
whereas the final RGB image was obtained using the Fits Liberator plug-in developed by
ESA/ESO/NASA for Photoshop. The resolution of the image is 0.33"/pixel and
the field of view is 10.4 x 10.9 arcmin.
