1. Hardware
- New SUN Fire computer (called fire35) running for Omega 2000 project
- New DVD re-writer and new scanner installed both on our general use PC
- New fibre optics lines to the Laboratory Observer Room prepared
- New Giga Switch on the same Laboratory Observer Room
- TVG from 2.2 already running on the Laboratory Observer Room
- Some tests with wireless at laboratory
- Anonymous ftp capacity increased from 30Gb to 145 Gb
- Increased disk capacity on some instrumentation computers with 145Gb disks
- In progress: several webcams for telescope monitoring
2. Software
- Secure area and Webmail (squirrelmail) installed on or web server
- Secure POP3. No more insecure POP3 connections from outside
- Updated Apache Server and compiled with mod_ssl
- Lots of security patches on both Unix and Windows computers
- Started jobs that will allow us to move most of our actual Solaris servers into new Linux servers. Jobs include: Postfix (instead of Sendmail) for our mail server, Webmail, SSL, POP3s, IMAP, CUPS (for printing queues), Apache, PHP and DNS.
- Updated our DHCP server operating system to SuSE Linux 9.0 (and patched)
- Together with Wlectronic Group (Mueller) and Astronomy Group (Thiele), the new Dome Control Program (DOMEC) has been developed for controlling the 2.2m Telescope Dome remotely
- Works concerning Extinction Monitor have been finished. Some new features adede to the hut control program. Also some bugs were removed
