ALFA Application Notes
Before you write a proposal for observing with ALFA and OMEGA-Cass please read* the Guidelines on Preparing an ALFA Proposal (also available as postscript file).
The policy for ALFA observations has been changed for the summer semester 2000 as follows:
- Projects using a natural guide star brighter than V = 11mag use ALFA as a general facility instrument without restrictions.
- Projects for natural guide stars fainter than the above limit or relying on the laser guide star cannot be carried out in the standard way. Time permitting, some approved programmes of this type will be performed during observing blocks of science verification time by the ALFA team. In nights of insufficient atmospheric conditions or technical problems with the laser during the science verification blocks, other observations with OMEGA-Cass in service mode will be performed by Calar Alto staff (see item service mode above).
ALFA/OMEGA-Cass Exposure Time Simulator (ETS).
